A dental bridge is essentially a false tooth which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns holding it in place are cemented or bonded onto your teeth on each side of the false tooth. This procedure is generally used to replace 1 to 2 missing teeth. Fixed bridges are permanent fixtures and cannot be taken out of the mouth like dentures can.
There are various types of bridge designs depending on the site of the lost tooth.
